BEND, OR (February 11, 2013) – Brookswood Meadow Plaza in southwest Bend has announced the schedule for the second season of the Brookswood Plaza Farmers Market. Partnering once again with Central Oregon Locavore and the nearby community, the Farmers Market will take place on Tuesdays from 3-7pm from late June through August and will offer 11 total dates on the 2013 calendar, including a special Sunday finale date to coincide with the Annual Brookswood Big Block Bash. Farm, artisan, craft and other vendor booths will be set up on the plaza area in front of C.E. Lovejoy’s grocery store and Toddles Preschool at the popular retail center and community gathering space located at 19530 Amber Meadow Drive.

The Farmers Market is now accepting vendor applications. Booth fees are being waived again this season to assist smaller farms, vendors and artisans, who may not be able to participate in other Farmers Markets, in sharing their Oregon products with the community. “We are particularly interested in increasing the number of produce vendors this year,” said the Farmers Market’s Manager, Cricket Kadoch. “Based on community feedback, we have also opened up one new space for a musician or band each week. We think it will be a fun addition to the festivities and a great opportunity for exposure for our musically talented locals.” To request an application, interested vendors should send an email to farmersmarket@brookswoodmeadowplaza.com, or call 541-323-3370. The schedule and updates may also be found online at the Tuesday Farmers Market page at www.brookswoodmeadowplaza.com or on Facebook at: “Brookswood Plaza Farmers Market”.

With nearly 10,000 households within a 3-mile radius of the Plaza, the Farmers Market brings farm fresh and locally produced goods closer to the area’s residents. And, with a grocery store and restaurants on-site, it allows the opportunity for local farmers and food producers to establish ongoing additional outlets for their bounty. New businesses at the Plaza since last summer include Casual Elegance Salon & Spa and La Rosa Modern Mexican Kitchen (scheduled to open in February).

Brookswood Meadow Plaza is Bend’s uniquely-local shopping and dining destination, offering prime retail, office and restaurant space. The Plaza serves the entire south Bend area and provides a convenient center for business, events, and community, anchored by Lovejoy’s Market. Located on Brookswood Boulevard just south of Elk Meadow Elementary School and one mile north of Baker Road at the corner of Amber Meadow Drive, this neighborhood hub is at the base of Bend Area Transit’s Brookswood Route 2.
