CASCADE CUSTOM PHARMACY TO SPONSOR COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE

BEND, OR (April 30, 2015) – Every day in the United States, approximately 44,000 pints of blood, or 38,000 blood donations are needed to give a newborn, a child, a mother or a father, a brother or a sister another chance at life. Every donation may help save up to three lives, which means nearly every two seconds someone needs blood.

As part of its commitment to community service and helping others, Cascade Custom Pharmacy at Brookswood Meadow Plaza in SW Bend will sponsor a community mobile blood drive conducted by the American Red Cross on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 12:00-5:00 PM – giving the Bend community  an opportunity to help support those in need. The blood drive is open to the public.

Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old, (a 16-year old may donate blood with written parental consent); there is no upper age limit for donating blood; have a minimum weight of 115 pounds and have not donated within 56 days. Many health conditions and medications DO NOT prevent someone from donating blood. People taking insulin, blood pressure, thyroid, and cholesterol medications, aspirin, antidepressants, and hormone replacement can still give blood.
