BEND, OR (June 26, 2012) – Brookswood Meadow Plaza in southwest Bend this week announced the schedule for the founding season of the Brookswood Plaza Farmers Market. Partnering with Central Oregon Locavore, an online farmers market and local food educational organization, and the nearby community, the Farmers Market will take place on Tuesdays from 3-7pm in August and September and will offer nine total dates on the 2012 calendar including a special Saturday launch and a Sunday finale date to coincide with previously scheduled events at the popular retail center and community gathering space. Farm, artisan, craft and other vendor booths will be set up on the plaza area in front of C.E. Lovejoy’s grocery store and Toddles Preschool at 19530 Amber Meadow Drive in Bend 97702.

The Farmers Market is currently accepting vendor applications. Booth fees are being waived for the inaugural season to encourage smaller farms, vendors and artisans, who may not be able to participate in other Farmers Markets, to share their Oregon products with the community. Central Oregon vendors are particularly encouraged to apply. Based on community feedback, market organizers are hoping for a mix of produce, meat, seafood, crafts, art, and other related products. Musicians are also encouraged to contact the Market Office for performance opportunities at the events. Interested vendors should send an email to farmersmarket@brookswoodmeadowplaza.com, or call 541-323-3370 to request an application or for more information. The schedule and updates may also be found online at the Tuesday Farmers Market page at www.brookswoodmeadowplaza.com or on the Farmers Market’s own Facebook page: “Brookswood Plaza Farmers Market”.

With nearly 10,000 households within a 3-mile radius of the Plaza, the Farmers Market will bring farm fresh and locally produced products closer to the area’s residents. And, with a grocery store and restaurants on-site, it allows the opportunity for local farmers and producers to establish ongoing additional outlets for their bounty.

Brookswood Meadow Plaza is Bend’s uniquely-local shopping and dining destination, offering prime retail, office and restaurant space. The Plaza serves the entire south Bend area and provides a convenient center for business, events, and community, anchored by Lovejoy’s Market. Located on Brookswood Boulevard just south of Elk Meadow Elementary School and one mile north of Baker Road at the corner of Amber Meadow Drive, this neighborhood hub is at the base of Bend Area Transit’s Brookswood Route 2.
