Brookswood Route 2 Bus Service: Connection, Convenience, Community
On March 14, 2011 Bend Area Transit extended its Brookswood Route 2 service south on Brookswood Boulevard, Lodgepole and Poplar Streets, bringing bus access to a larger number of south Bend area residents. Now under the umbrella of Cascades East Transit, Bend routes connect to a Central Oregon regional system of public transportation. For a $2.50 day pass ($1.25 discounted fare for those 60 and older and/or disabled) you can ride unlimited in Bend (Zone 1). Children under 6 ride FREE! Route 2, which has the “Brookswood & Poplar” stop just one block north of Brookswood Meadow Plaza will take you downtown to places like the Library, the Old Mill and the Hawthorne Station where you can access other local and regional routes and be footsteps from Juniper Swim and Fitness.
Passes may be purchased on the bus when you board. Single rides and monthly passes are also available. Whether you share a vehicle, want to save on gas or want to avoid parking and traffic hassles at one of the area’s events downtown or at the Old Mill (The Bite of Bend, Seasonal Festivals, Balloons Over Bend, The Bend Brewfest, etc.) consider riding the bus. With a transfer at Hawthorne station, medical appointments at west or east side clinics are now within reach as well!
