Bend, OR, May 24, 2012 – Beginning on June 2nd, auto enthusiasts in the area have a new location to gather, talk cars and kick tires on the weekends. Residents and visitors who have been looking to swap stories, share their automotive treasures or simply hang out with others who want to talk cars, are invited to meet at Brookswood Meadow Plaza on Saturday mornings from 8:00 – 10:00am for a “Central Oregon Cool Cars & Coffee” gathering. The Plaza, located at 19530 Amber Meadow Drive in Southwest Bend just off of Brookswood Boulevard, has ample parking, is fully ADA accessible and houses the River Rim Coffeehouse and C.E. Lovejoy’s Brookswood Market, which are both open during that timeframe to serve patrons. All vehicle years, makes and models are welcome each week and car clubs are encouraged to spread the word to their members. The get-togethers will be held rain or shine.  (read more below)

“Communities all over the county hold these ‘Octane and Caffeine’ gatherings,” said Tim Hagner, local resident and President of the High Desert Porsche Club of America. “It’s great Bend now has a new gathering spot for all our car enthusiasts. This type of meet-up is exciting because it can look a little different each week depending on who shows up. ”

“This is a fun fit for the Plaza and Bend. You never know what develops from ideas like this. We hope lots of engine-inclined folks will come out, park, talk, sip coffee, and enjoy” commented Cricket Kadoch, who does community outreach for the popular neighborhood, retail and dining hub. “With at least four new businesses that already have or will open up in 2012, this concept is just one of several in the works that will complement the businesses and surrounding community. A partnership is also in the works to add a Farmer’s Market at this end of town later in the summer.”

Local Slice, an artisanal Pizza restaurant, opened last month in the Plaza to rave reviews. The Offices @ Brookswood, an executive office and meeting facility opened in February. It’s the Touch Plantscapes and La Rosa Mexican Restaurant will join the tenant mix (Snap Fitness, Toddles Preschool, Lovejoy’s and River Rim Coffeehouse) this summer and fall respectively.

Brookswood Meadow Plaza is Bend’s uniquely-local shopping and dining destination, offering prime retail, office and restaurant space. The Plaza serves over 15,000 homes in the south Bend area and provides a convenient center for business, events, and community, anchored by Lovejoy’s Market. Located on Brookswood Boulevard just south of Elk Meadow Elementary School and one mile north of Baker Road at the corner of Amber Meadow Drive, this neighborhood hub is at the base of Bend Area Transit’s Brookswood Route 2.
