Brookswood Meadow Plaza Welcomes Bend’s New Goodwill Donation Center

May 5, 2011, BEND, OR – Donating clothing, shoes and household goods just got a lot easier for residents of the south Bend Oregon area with the addition of Bend’s new Goodwill Donation Center at Brookswood Meadow Plaza. On-site 7 days a week from 11:30 am – 6:30 pm near CE Lovejoy’s Brookswood Market, the attended donation center offers convenient access for residents in the Brookswood Boulevard corridor, west of Highway 97.

“Community members have asked us to bring even more convenience to the Plaza,” said Travis Lovejoy of Brookswood Meadow LLC. “The addition of Goodwill is a key piece in responding to those requests and in our goal to establish the Plaza as a dynamic community center. Now, with this new truck location, it is easier for our neighbors to give back to the local community with their donations while saving time, money and gas. It’s a great fit and we’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community, businesses at the Plaza and prospective tenants.”

In addition to accepting donations, Goodwill staff at the Brookswood Meadow Plaza site offer information about Goodwill’s Job Connection Program. Job Connection is a free job search and referral program designed to assist people in locating employment in the community. Bend is one of 20 convenient locations for Job Connection throughout the north-central Oregon and southern Washington area served by Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette (GICW). Information about this and other programs offered by Goodwill can be found on their website at www.meetgoodwill.org.

“We are very pleased to be part of the Brookswood Meadow Plaza and surrounding community,” commented Kelly Farr, who is in charge of site acquisition at GICW. “We wanted to expand donation opportunities in Bend, particularly in the Southwest area of town. Now, more than ever, our services of bringing good jobs and brighter futures to people with barriers to employment are in high demand. We’re excited about this new partnership and are happy to be in the neighborhood.”

Brookswood Meadow Plaza is Bend’s uniquely-local shopping and dining destination, offering prime retail, office and restaurant space. The Plaza serves over 15,000 homes in the south Bend area and provides a convenient center for business, events, and community, anchored by CE Lovejoy’s Brookswood Market. Located on Brookswood Boulevard just south of Elk Meadow Elementary School and one mile north of Baker Road at the corner of Amber Meadow Drive, this neighborhood hub is at the base of Bend Area Transit’s Brookswood Route 2.
